Channa asiatica, the Northern Snakehead, is one of the most approachable dwarf channa species. The white spot variant shows striking pale spotting and marbling over an earthy body, with a bold pattern that develops with age.

It is hardy and tolerant of cooler temperatures than most tropical channa, which makes it a good first snakehead. It remains a predator, so keep it in a species tank or with carefully chosen larger tank mates. A tight lid is a must.
