The Least Rasbora (Boraras maculatus), also known as the Dwarf Rasbora or Spotted Rasbora, is one of the smallest and most colorful members of the rasbora family, making it a favorite among nano and planted tank enthusiasts. Growing to just about 2-2.5 cm in length, this tiny gem displays a brilliant red-orange body accented with bold black blotches along its sides and fins, which intensify in color when kept in a well-planted, comfortable environment.

Naturally found in slow-moving, blackwater streams and peat swamps across Southeast Asia, the Least Rasbora thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with plenty of live plants, driftwood, and subdued lighting to mimic its natural habitat. It is an extremely peaceful schooling fish, best kept in groups where its shoaling behavior and shimmering colors can truly be appreciated.
